Bryan Foy and the Seven Little Foys

Just a reminder that Bryan Foy, the director of Lights of New York, was the eldest member of his father’s Vaudeville act “The Seven Little Foys.” It became the subject of the 1955 film “The Seven Little Foys” with Bob Hope starring as his father, Eddie Foy Sr. The musical was shot in Technicolor VistaVision, and directed by Melville Shavelson, who also directed Bob Hope in The Princess and the Pirate in 1944. I think decreasing family size, atomized individuals, and social engineering might be the reason there is no modern equivalent. All you need is a bunch of kids with natural talent, spare time, and a mother or father who will encourage and facilitate.

Gala, yes it is modern. That same family is still around and singing today, their kids and grandkids. Go to Stowe Vermont to visit the Von Trapp family lodge and see them sing. My grandma had a house in Stowe. The family is still together and singing. I bet you can find lots of videos of them in recent times on youtube.

LOL, Roger! But wait, The Kardashians have no talent whatsoever. I can't even listen to them talk. It's like some pagan goddess cult they have going on. What is the appeal? I look at them the way I look at Yoko Ono, as solid proof that witchcraft and mind control is real.

The Bridges, The Arquettes, The Murrays, The Baldwins, The Wayans, The Skarsgards, and I know I'm missing a bunch and some of them are getting older. That kind of natural talent is genetic and does run in families.

Interesting, the recent "Brutalist" was shot in VistaVision. A high-resolution widescreen motion-picture film technique created by [Paramount Pictures](wikipedia.org_ Pictures) in 1954. Instead of running 35mm film vertically, VistaVision turns the film 90 degrees to run horizontally through the camera gate, exposing an 8-perforation frame that doubles the negative area for sharper, finer-grained images.
