I loved watching Metropolis with everyone. There are so many amazing moments in the film. How is everyone feeling about it?

It's amazing to see all of the inspiration that came from Metropolis. An important piece of art.
I also learned that Praying Mantis' bite. :)

Roger, I can't tell you how much I loved it!
I've seen Metropolis before several times, but not like this.
The wonderful new music score is much more sci-fi. Having Andy watch and comment was a huge surprise and very interesting. The music really added so much to the drama. The film itself is so incredible. The new score did it justice.
The new title cards your wrote really helped the dialog and exposition. I think it's a vast improvement over the other "complete restored" version I've seen. My husband agrees, he watched with me and has been enjoying beyond what words can express.
Your version needs to be shown, preserved and available for future generations.
I'm so glad Gala got to see Metropolis for the first time this way, looking and sounding so outrageously fantastic. It's really cool to hear her first viewing reactions and astute observations. She is the perfect host, it just flows really nicely.
We're big fans of The Prisoner in my family. When you said the typeset for the new title cards was the same as The Prisoner I immediately recognized it and thought that's why it's so familiar. Excellent choice. It looks great, and it fits the future dystopia theme. Our 21 year old daughter Grace loves the movie Metropolis, and the tv show The Prisoner too. We wish she was here to watch Metropolis with us but she's in Hungary. She's going to go crazy when she sees this version. My husband is dying to tell her all about it, she'll listen to your commentary, maybe even insist her Hungarian boyfriend watch as well. We know she likes other silent movies on here too.
It's obvious how much you're sharing your unfiltered love of Metropolis. It's raw and real, and we can feel it. That goes for all of the movie watch parties you've done, but this one was extra special.

We can't wait to release the commentary for everyone who missed it today :-)
For me -- I had never seen the movie before, and as you'll hear in the commentary track, I was shocked to find that basically every movie has referenced Metropolis. Andy's new score made it super easy for me to watch. Who knew some dubstep action sequences would make 99 year old cinema accessible and exciting? Also, the transfer was awesome ... and the font for the new inter titles.
What silent film do you guys think Andy should score next?

Murnau's NOSFERATU would be a good one.
Agree 100% Gala. The transfer of Metropolis was the best I've ever seen.

An upside-down pentagram (pointing down) traditionally symbolizes the triumph of matter over spirit or the inversion of the natural order. While a standard upright pentagram represents spiritual balance and the elements, turning it upside down reverses its meaning.

steam punk extraordinaire. One of the origin pieces for Steam Punk Artists. Very popular with 3D artists. See Renderosity COM :)

Queen's "Radio Ga Ga" and Madonna's "Express Yourself" are the most famous music videos that use visual effects, footage, and aesthetic themes from Fritz Lang's 1927 silent film Metropolis. Attached is Freddy :)

I know you are into AI, and the models at Renderosity may fit your future fantasies, for some cgi generated prompts? They have dozens if not hundreds of items in this fantasy realm, including various lighting effects. I myself am not at as advanced or $$$cash level infused as your AI Corp., no doubt. However just the same, you may find this tiny sample of available CGI models which you can use for your own AI creations' prompts. From Steam Punk Avant-garde SciFi creations that might reflect the Metropolis retro Buck Rogers feel perhaps, all the way up to the sexy sassy Vamp Babes I am currently rolling into myself, for my Galaxi Soap-Op. Characters and Outfits all the way up to Space Ships and blasters. All commercially viable. I use my own Tower/Local/AI-machine now myself. So much better than Cloud$$ w/nocensor, but likely not as unbridled as which your company no doubt employs. The only problem I find with AI, is that it changes every single week now. My updates for the various engines I use on both ComfyUI and Simpligen, have gone from a few minutes each week to nearly an hour every other week . Node construction set up is a learning curve, along with LoRAS, but once you got it, you got it :) Anyhow thanks for reviewing this amazing work of Sc-Fi Art, which has likely been an inspiration from Buck Rogers to Star Trek and beyond.
Besides Renderosity, here are specific Stores that carry various Metropolis like effects, that might tickle your fancy. I myself use them for my current Sci-Fi realm of adventures.
Here are a few of the DAZ 3D vendors and third-party creators which offer items, lighting environments, and accessories directly inspired by or explicitly named after Fritz Lang’s 1927 expressionist masterpiece Metropolis:
1-Dreamlight: My absolute favorite DAZ 3D vendor offers the popular Movie Maker Iray – Metropolis series (including 50 HDRIs - Movie Maker Iray - Metropolis Day, Metropolis Night, and Metropolis Sunset). These packs are optimized for Daz Studio Iray and provide high-rise futuristic skyscraper environment lighting, matching camera presets, and dramatic cinematic lighting setups tailored for dystopian or futuristic cityscape. Just amazing, and he is always willing to get chatty with you. Best contact is through his store on "RenderHub" and he does customs.

I think your commentary is truly great because you're transfixed watching with us-- but also sharing the most fascinating information. It's some of the best, if not the best movie commentary I've heard. The historical and technical knowledge you share from that era just blows me away. You have no idea how much you've enhanced my appreciation.
Not to mention all the esoteric elements of the story you discussed as well. It's the most prophetic movie about worshipping the machines we created. This stuck with me and has been haunting me since Friday. In fact, the entire experience of watching this fantastic 99 year old movie has stayed with me since the watch party.
2- The Row House 3D: Specializes in period and stylized art-deco accessories explicitly named after the film, such as the METROPOLIS Headpiece and METROPOLIS Yoshiwara Headdress packs, which capture the iconic look of Maria/the Maschinenmensch with matching Iray material style presets. Like other shops she does customs, and the reviews of her work, speak for themselves :) ALL 5/5
3- If anybody wants a lead for anything CGI and related mainly to DAZ3D [but I have used other CGI and animation platforms] feel free to Chat me up here. I have been doing this since my AutoCad days in the late 1990's
Renderosity and DAZ3D sites are all pretty much NO NSFW allowed. Renderhub is more open and towards an Adult's discretionary tastes, although all sell very graphic and detailed violent material, including blood splatter, gun shot tracers, cuts. scraps, bite marks, atmospheric effects of every kind, etc etc .
Renderotica is the Store out of Winnipeg Manitoba that is completely unbridled, aka super duper NAUGHTY, [and likely not for developing anything you might want to feature here?]. Definitely Crazy Crazy Canadian stuff.
Well with all of the above ya'll should be able to make your own version of Metropolis or a Sassy Buck-Rogers type Steam Punkish GalaxiBabes[CR 2011] like I'm rolling over in my old-geriatric skull. SEE True-Blood, Star Trek, Star Gate, Game of Thrones, Buck-Rogers, etc, smash into one another, and it might look like my PotPourri, with a big lump of Poutine on top, LOL.
