Then: Medusa

A stewardess is killed by a masked man on the Greek coast; suspicion lands on a drunken American playboy and the gangster he owes. Gordon Hessler’s 1973 British-Greek mystery — produced by and starring George Hamilton — is a sunstruck inheritance thriller with a giallo shadow: wills, siblings, a syndicate loan, and bodies turning up on boats. Hessler, coming off The Oblong Box and Scream and Scream Again, teams again with writer Christopher Wicking; Luciana Paluzzi plays Hamilton’s sister, Cameron Mitchell the creditor, Alana Stewart (then Hamilton) in the circle. Shot on the islands as a working holiday as much as a movie, it is minor, glossy, and strange — Mediterranean pulp from a director who knew how to dress a killing.
